When Bob’s Red Mill went up, I decisive to give this one a try, and I’m glad I did. Bob’s is good, but not so much for drinking straight. I haven’t enjoyed a glass of ice cold milk in a while, it was great.

I started looking online for a milk alternative since I’m in college, need breakfast, and don’t want to recompense $4.50 for a half gallon of milk. I decided to switch from grocery store milk to SACO’s powder for mathematical reasons. Plus, there’s the inconvenience of schlepping to the store each few days for another half-gallon. I’m a “stock up and go shopping as infrequently as possible” type.

Here’s my solution for mixing and storing SACO milk.

1.) buy two plastic half gallons of store milk and rinse the bottles out thoroughly when they’re empty.

2.) Mix up a quart of SACO in a large Pyrex (glass) handled measuring cup and use it is commodious spout to pour the milk into an empty grocery bottle. Repeat the process. (Note: having the Pyrex device distinctly marked off in red sure makes measuring the powder easy. Just commence with 8 oz. of SACO, then add water to the quart line.)

3.) Put the cap on the filled bottle and vigorously shake this half-gallon to make sure all the SACO has dissolved. Refrigerate. (A bottom shelf is best, as it’s colder.)

4.) When you get down near to the last of that bottle, mix up a second one and refrigerate it is This way, you’ll invariably have a supply of milk on hand. Rinse out the basi container when it’s empty and leave the cap off. Give it a quick rinse just before re-using.

I chose grocery bottles for storage as it satisfies a life-long custom of pouring milk from one. Since I’m no longer buying one gallon jugs, lifting and pouring from these smaller bottles is much less of a strain, and I have YET to throw away any milk mixed from powder because the half-gallon spoiled before I could finish it all.

If you’ve never before experimented with instant non-fat milk but are thinking along the lines of this review’s primary paragraph, give SACO a shot. Those two half-gallon bottles I suggested just might be the last milk you’ll ever lug home from the market.

It is superior to other milks that we tried because it has the added vitamins and solid homogeneous inorgani substances like the milk in the refrigerator divisions The taste of the milk is good for drinking. My kids have no complaints about it is We do take particular care to make the milk well in advance of drinking it so it is cold. This milk froths nicely when using it for making cappuccinos. It is good for use in cooking altho I have not employed it as a arid ingredient in baking but I may assume it would be good that way also.

For assorted reasons, I’ve been using dry milk most of my life (over 40 years). The stores in this area have either quit retail powdered milk or sell it in small, uneconomical sizes. Being competent to buy it on Amazon is a outstanding relief, especially since it’s a large quantity that’ll last me a long time.

I think this milk is just as good as any other dry blends I’ve tasted and I plan on buying it again in the future.

Compared to the price of fresh milk per quart where I live, I’m saving cash using dry milk. Other dry milks I tried were OK on cereal or in bread machine recipes, but were nasty to drink. Saco is the first I actually can drink and enjoy! Highly recommended and I will continue to order this brand as long as it is available.

My daughter has celiac (a complete inability to eat any wheat, rye, barley, and in her case oatmeal, or any of their starches or glutens). Pamela’s baking and pancake mix is a real heaven-sent merchandise It tastes good! Unlike such a good deal of other baking blends I have tried. It is easy to change “normal” recipes using Pamela’s mix to have outstanding tasting baked products. The bag has good recipes and Pamela’s productions website has additional ones. I would commend this product to anyone, in particular those who don’t want to take the time to mix their own grains or want to keep it on hand for when celiac family or friends come to visit and you would like to provide a delicious, easy to make treat.

Pamela’s Ultimate Baking and Pancake Mix is wonderful. Haveing been gluten free for 27 years and not being able to find productions that were good tasting I gave up and went without until my daughter encountered this mix last year. It makes the best pizza crust – so good my husband does not eat boughten pizza and alternatively chooses mine made from the Pamela’s mix. Check out their internet site for other swell recipies. I have tried the sugar cookies, peanutbutter cookies, chocolate chip cookies, banana nutbread, pizza and biscuits. Now I am going to give their bread mix a try. Hope that is as tasty! This is the best pancake mix I have ever tried. Whether you NEED gluten-free mix or not, it make excellent pancakes! I have tried several other brands, and Pamelas stand above all others, IMHO.

I have been using Pam’s mix for 5 years now. Love it for muffins and cookies. My husband who does not refrain from wheat likes these choc. chip cookies better than wheat ones. Pancakes come out alittle flat, but I use seltzer water and they fluff right up!

you’ll never go back to wheat flour for pancakes and cookies after using this! I saw another review saying the pancakes were tasteless…I don’t understand, as my entire family, gluten-eaters as well, now prefer this to regular home-made pancakes. The recipe calls for water, but I use rice milk or almond milk, or whatever milk I have available – at times half water and half milk, and they are superb!

The chocolate chip cookies recipe….oh my goodness. These are so yummy! We made these to take a party and every one was raving in regards to them before they even knew they were gluten free! They turned out absolutely – soft and chewy with a swell texture. YUM!

my wife has Celiac DZ, not me. this is the only GF stuff I can stand. i really prefer it to regular pancakes. we as well use it for other stuff too. it is pricey, peculiarly vs. regular flour, but with amazon and the 15% off for regular shipments, it’s a little more affordable. don’t forget dealer joes pasta–the most inexpensive and the best!

We use this product for everything, pancakes, waffles, onion rings, quick breads, etc., and every single thing has been delicious. Tastes like the closest to the real thing. Even our 15 year old celiac son agrees!

This product is the best I have found yet. It is so universal you can use it as breading for fish or chicken and make all kinds of breads with its My kids like the pancakes this mix makes better than homemade.

Nothing I have tried compares in flavor, texture or ease of utilized A must for everybody eating gluten free.

The recipe on the back for scones is so delicious it will make you cry. Even better than the Whole Foods Orange Cranberry Scones, my prior favorite.

This is the best gluten free pancake mix on the market. I find the texture is better if you add in either chopped nuts or fruit. I haven’t used the mix for anything other than pancakes, but I’ve seen recipes posted online on various sights using this mix as one of the ingredients.

After my research I was in regards to to purchase the WNDR3700; just at last minute I came throughout WNDRMac. This model appears to have better features than the WNDR3700, and is alike to the WNDR3800; plus particular assist for Mac. I have a MBP so I liked it at basi look. On Amazon I got it for $85, which is cheaper than 3700 model. All the features that WNDR3700 offer are already part of WNDRMac. Below are the features 3700 doesn’t seem to have which are in WNDRMac model. The one I obtained is WNDRMacV2 which has very similar hardware config as WNDR3800. (As a matter of fact, WNDRMac is much closer to WNDR3800, only missing things are the firmware features like ClearChannel Selector, Tivo compatability etc).

Features in WNDRMac which are not in WNDR3700:

- Rapidshare USB Printer support

- Genie dashboard control

- Video Mode

- Time Machine compatible

- CD-less install (not that it in truth really my surprise, WNDRMac model nicely worked with an externally powered USB drive! From assorted reviews and user comments, the 3700/3800 models did not seem to work with a USB drive which was externally powered. It uses Bonjour for the Printers – so connecting printer will have to not be as difficult as other models (Bonjour can be installed on Windows as well).

Overall, I feel WNDRMac has more features than WNDR3700 (much closer to WNDR3800), plus closer to Mac and works well with PCs – with little less cost than either of those models.

I have it for almost 3 days now – no reboots or no issues at all. Works outstanding on both frequencies, automatically detects and configures USB drives. great product!

Its a simple and best router. Easy to setup, works right out from box with NO customizations. Easy for novice to pro users. Dual band router provides incredible connection no signal drop-out.

Bought it couple months ago and the router seems to be holding up. I use it rather intensively. I have 11 widgets connected by way of wifi and 2 thru ethernet. I also have a 2TB hard drive connected to the router, which acts like a dlna server as well, so I can view my pictures and videos directly to my dlna devices.

The only problem I have is that since it is in my basement, data transfer to the hard drive is around 1-2 MBps. Hopefully, after I get a range extender, that increases.

It has been over 9 months since I installed this routed. Have had no difficulties with reboots or drop connections. After such a lot of horrible Netgear routers that I have used over the years, this one seems to be solid. Netgear has finally started to make galore authenti products.

Configuration:

2 Wired Connections: One to an 8 port Netgear switch, another one to my Vonage.

10 Wireless Connections: Phones, PCs, Mac, Tablets

2 TB WD MyBook by way of USB. Great thing is that this router has dlna server in built for the USB port. Movies, Pictures, Songs stored on the hard drive can be accessed by way of any device that supports dlna.

I replaced a netgear 3400 with the wireless extreme for mac, and am pleased. The range is better than the 3400, comfort of set up is a breeze. As advertised no software to install, the router is high class and worth the money. I recommend it to everyone.

I get it – WEP is effortlessly cracked. It’s generally obsolete. However, I necessitated it to connect a bequest device, and hackable security is better than no security at all for keeping out casual users. The product description states that the router supports WEP; it doesn’t. Irritating.

However, in fairness, everything else regarding the router is golden. Easy set up set up a printed copy of the user manual would have been nice,) worked right out of the box, and Ethernet is nice and fast. Recommended – if you don’t need WEP!

When my Netgear g home router passed from physical life suddenly, I want shopping for not only a newer model but a beefier one, as well job likely with dual band capabilities. I came across the Wireless Extreme for Mac and PC and decided to give it a go. I use a MacBook Pro, my families has assorted iOS gimmicks around the house, and the wife has a Dell laptop.

The ability to allocation a printer via Bonjour was a large draw. setup for that printer on my Mac was (no surprise) a no-brainer. As soon as I went to Printers in Sys Prefs, my MBP saw my HP printer connected through the new router and I was in business. The Dell PC required a free download in order to assist Bonjour printer services, but setup was painless. Once since my initial setup I had to reinstall the printer service on both computers. Not sure what that was about, except possibly I changed some settings in the new router and the printer drivers needed to find the device again. Working fine now.

The Extreme has powerful WiFi signals on both bands. It is situated on the second floor of my wood frame, established home, and I can pick up both hi and low bands assorted hundred feet away from my house. Point is, inside the house, the signal is strong on each level of my home. Very pleased. Dual band is nice, in that I can connect my MBP to the router on the 5g band, and then connect all our smaller iOS devices on the lower 2.5g band. Not that traffic is a big issue in a one family dwelling; still, the two bands are nice when streaming movies, music, etc. Also, the guest network — ordinary now on Netgear routers — is a great feature. Allow your friends to connect with an easy password, but don’t worry in regards to someone connecting to your hardware or using your peripherals. The wireless isolation option is great for this.

All in all, this is a robust home router and that is Mac friendly and — not that this is paramount — has a nice look about it is Sitting on the desk, it looks like it belongs amongst a host of Apple products.

My reasons for purchasing this router where as follows:

Six machines on the home network five are Mac’s one a PC.

Four of six machines are Macs wireless.

Need a USB port to run a hard drive for Time Machine and a laser printer.

Why the item was returned:

The eldest MacBook Pro connected at N speed and kept the connection consistently. The other three (one is one month old) invariably dropped their N connection and forced the use of G on these machines.

The USB port could not read drives bigger than 2 TB.

Any hard drive non-ejects (sometimes when the hard drive went to sleep) meant the router would freeze and require rebooting.

I picked up this router after hitting a brick wall with a client’s DLink DIR-825 router and SIP (this is a vast problem with this router – at least with the firmware versions I tried). I may have gotten it to work ultimately if spent a few more hours attempting to re-flash a couple more firmware versions or trying other setting in the buggy firmware.

Instead I just picked up this NetGear router, plugged it in, set port-triggering, and everything just worked. This was a somewhat complex network too, with wireless printers, clients, Voice-Over_IP traffic, Mac, Liux, and serveral versions of MS Windows machines. Everything worked without a hitch. Particularly for the price, this is a great, easy to administer router!

Initially I had not one thing but upset with this router losing it’s internet connection. After several hours on the line with tech support, it is now stable and running well. There is a noteable difference using this router than my old G router. I streamed NFL games through my PS3 to my television – the picture was noticeably better with the WNDRMAC. Connection speed is better everyplace in my house, including upstairs in the bedrooms – a place where my G router barely provided a connection. I’m now happy with the router.

The Dynamo 300 sub might seem to be under-spec’d for it’s costly You may surely buy more spectacular subs for the money, but this sub does a very good job, being both precise and reasonably powerful. It gives rise to very usable bass into the 30hz county and loads up well sufficient to manufacture the effect of going even deeper. I have a pair of Martin Logan Sequel speakers for my main 2 channel listening and have always been impressed with the bass the 8″ drivers deliverance So when I set up my home theater, I got a Grotto sub and was in truth impressed with the definition and extension of the subwoofer. I’ve got a littler strategy that features a pair of Mission speakers and a low cost receiver with a sub output and was looking for a low cost sub. I found this the Dynamo 300 for fewer than $250 on Amazon and thought I would give it a try.

After a couple of days of break in, playing with the placement and reducing the crossover in my receiver to 90, it started giving me the results I was looking for. It has sufficient power to fill my small room with very good bass and works well on movies and music. Don’t let the 70 Watt ranking fool you, this thing tumps.

The sound is accurate and tight. The extension is very good, it goes much lower than I expected and without being boomy like so numerous woofers. such a heap of notes: Setup the scheme to crossover to take over where your main speakers leave off, as low as you cant My speakers may go down to 50 Hz but don’t do a good job at anything beneath 80 Hz so I set the crossover at 90 Hz. At 100 Hz it was way to boomy. I then applied the receiver crossover to remove anything below 90 Hz going to my main speakers and that made a vast improvement. It is VERY HARD to manage multiple speakers reproducing bass in the same frequency range. Letting the sub do it’s thing without interference will provide much better results. Another benefit to removing the low frequencies from the main speakers is the amplifier in your receiver will not have to burn power on pushing low frequencies that may be reproduced better by the sub. This improves your overall sound. Warning, While the 300 has an adaptable high pass filter, this sub will not provide a crossover that will work for your main speakers. You will need to manage that from your receiver. whether or not you receiver does not feature a crossover, set the high pass filter lower. You can pick the frequency by looking up the frequency response of your main speakers and go just a bit higher than the lowest number ordinarily amongst 50 – 90 Hz.

I bought this subwoofer on a whim to supplement my Nuforce Icon 2 system with Triangle Comete Es speakers. I needed to fill out the sound from in regards to 70 hertz down. However, you can HEAR all the bass that’s recorded and, to me, that’s what matters. You can hear bass notes, not just BOOM BOOM BOOM. I was hoping the woofer would be made of such a outstanding deal of type of exotic material like aluminum, kevlar, or ceramic, but the the polypropylene seems just fine. The woofer has a vast rubber surround to allow it to travel a outstanding distance.

Well, this isn’t taking long to realize the high quality of this Martin Logan Dynamo 300 subwoofer’s sonic abilities! It just arrived an hour ago and I’m running it in with cd’s by the great bass driven rhythms of “Soul Live” and “Spyro Gyra”.

Like the former reviewer, I, too, was looking for a subwoofer to fill in the bass octaves of my Triangle stand mounts, mine being the little Stella ES’. Like the early version Comete’s, these Stella’s have a pleated surround style mid-woofer, more known for it’s mid-bass and not for any real deep bass. What bass there is, is very tight and controlled, which is why I’m trying out this 8 inch woofer based subwoofer. Speed and accuracy in a small room is what I’m trying to accomplish. This two channel stereo system comprises of: Croft’s Micro Basic+ preamp and Polestar 25X2 watt amp, a RAM updated Pioneer Elite PD-65 cdp, and all Kimber cabling. Power conditioning is the amazing Panamax M10-HT-Pro, bought here on Amazon.

What I’m hearing is verifying my buy of this ML Dynamo 300 subwoofer. Indeed, it’s phase contol switch has played an crucial role in tailoring the bass output to the emplacement in-room. I have a pair of Polk Rti8s, a JBL center channel, and a pair of medium sized polk surround speakers. I wanted a subwoofer to add a little oomph to my movie observing experience, and to extend the low end while listening to music. I needed something with a small footprint that invented good musical bass. I live in an apartment, and I don’t want a immense piece of furniture that creates wall rattling effects. This sub offered nothing. I know it’s just a little sub, but I expected better from Martin Logan. Velodyne, Energy, and Mirage all make adequate eight inch subwoofers. Apparently, Martin Logan does not. This products was a total disappointment.

Tomtom 5 Inch Widescreen Portable Navigator

I purchased the TomTom XXL 540S a few weeks ago. This gps is the huge brother to the TomTom XL 340S. This gps just has the more prominent and more glorious 5″ screen.

I have very mixed feelings when it comes to the gps. There are a great deal of things that I like with regards to it, but there are as well so galore small details and functions that are lacking on it that TomTom either decisive not to work on or decisive to exclude. These small things that are missing drive me absolutely crazy at times and I don’t acknowledge whether or not I may stand them or not. I may consider returning this gps and getting either a Garmin or Magellan instead. I don’t recognise yet. I in truth hope TomTom starts addressing such a good deal of of these issues.

Some of my masters vs cons are under which I hope will assist others who are attempting to decide on a gps.

Pros:

+ IQ Routes (TomTom uses historical speed info for roads based on the time of day and day of the week, so that it may give you the best possible route)

+ large 5″ Screen, which is easy to see.

+ Very deafening speaker. (Option in Volume Preferences to link the volume to your cars speed whether or not you want)

+ Satellite acquition is fast (less than 10 sec for me). Shows ordinarily around 9 satellites.

+ Map Color may be changed.

+ may alter the color of the car symbol in 3D mode

+ Auto Day/Night mode changes the luminance and color.

+ Ability to prepare a route with any Depart and Destination coordinates.

+ Shows the current street that your on at the bottom of the screen and the next street to turn on in the top right corner.

+ progressed Lane Guidance on the highway is displayed in truth nicely. Shows an arrow with the lane that you need to be in and in addition at times shows a 3D sign for your exit. It is nice and large and it stays on the screen long enough to be viewed so that it is clear to see where you need to go.

+ Status bar may be customized to how you like its It may be displayed either horizontally or vertically. may show the remaining time, remaining distance, current time, arrival time, your speed and the speed limit, distance to your next turn, compass, ect.

+ TTS (text to speech) instructions are very helpful in letting you know where to turn and as well preparing you for your next turn as well. For instance it will say something like “After one qurter mile turn right”. Then as you get closer to the street it will say “Turn right Main St. Then take the second left”

Cons:

- POI (Points of Interest) Map Screen shows the POI name, street and cross street, phone, city, and state. But it gives NO street addresses! So you don’t know the address or what side of the street the POI is on, unless you call the place in front of time and ask. All you get is a checkered flag shown in the middle of the street with TomTom saying “you have reached your final destination”. On the Go model the POI Map Screen has a “Details” button that shows the street address, zip code, and food cuisine type for instance. Why TomTom decided to remove this on this model I have no idea.

- No AutoZoom enable/disable option (like on the Go model). You can manually zoom in or out on the map, but with regards to 5 sec later AutoZoom will kick in and take you right back to what TomTom wants you to see. Its very discouraging and hindering because I like to zoom in and out most times so that I can see more map detail, but TomTom won’t allow me to for anymore then regarding 5 sec. When I turn on the gps the zoom level that TomTom has picked is so bad that most all of the street outlines around me have totally vanished from the screen. All that I see are a bunch of street names just floating around on the map with no streets being shown.

- Doesn’t speak which side of the street your destination is on. (If you enter a street address for a destination however it does show a small arrow on the map pointing to the left or right hand side of the street when you are approaching your destination. Along with a small checkered flag on the side of the street your destination is on.)

- Change Preferences screen is 6 pages deep and only has a button to advance foward to the next page. There is no back button. So whether or not you say accidently go past the screen you wanted to be on you have to then press the foward button 5 more times just to get back to that page.

- No simple way to get into the Browse as Text turn lists display from the main screen.

- Browse as Text route instructions, the text and arrows for the turn list is just way to small. in addition there is no Auto Scroll function. To view the next page of new upcoming turns you have to scroll down the list manually yourself.

- POI Map Screen in Night mode shows the cross street text in black, which is exceedingly difficult to see unless you get very close to the screen.

- 3D mode for the duration of the day the maps background brightness isn’t consistent all over the whole screen. There are noticable lines across the screen where you can see the several brightness stages. Towards the bottom of the map its the brightest and then as you pan up the screen it gets more or fewer darker.

- Can’t enter the street name untill after you have entered the city. Its bad news whether or not you know the street but unsure of the city. You ought to be competent to search for the street in any city near you or near the city that you entered (if it was incorrect).

- TTS (text to speech) of multiword street names sounds once in a while garbled.

- TTS pronounces such a heap of words and streets beauteous poorly.

- Can’t change the color of the car symbol in 2D mode.

- Can’t search restaurants by cuisine type.

- No MicroSD memory card slot for expansion. Room is finelooking tight with only 2GB of internal flash memory. After removing all of the voices except for computer voice Susan and removing most of the car symbols. I still only have 105mb of space free remaining.

- Only supports USB 1.1 transfers. So when you install maps or performing backups its very slow.

Miscellaneous info: gps chipset on mine was a GL2 BCM4750 (Global Locate 2), The CPU speed is 266MHZ. 64MB of RAM.

This is a good product, that is reliable, works as expected, and comes with good client support. After I purchased and tried out this TomTom XXL 540S, I promptly installed and employed TomTom Home to update it, and used the Map Guarantee for my free full updated All this worked incisively as expected. Once I had the device and started using it, I noticed how easy it was to operate and configured It does a better than expected occupation of routing, and map accuracy is as well beauteous good. The Text to Speech function works beautiful good, this is what gives you spoken street names, places and addresses. The voice is clear and piercing piercing had to turn down the volume a bit from maximum). It does fumble such a lot of odd or alien street names.

More not so long ago I got a detect of new maps available in TomTom Home, and attempted to buy and update while signing up to the Map Update Service, which is an excellent value, as you get 4 more map updates for the duration of the next year, and you do get those, as TomTom releases 4 full map updates per year, each year. This is where the help comes in. for the duration of this update I was offered 1 full map update for regarding $12 when combined with the Map Update Service for regarding $52. This is for the North America Maps which include the US+Canada+Mexico. It let me buy the full map update, but not the Map Update Service, and it would not let me download and install it is I called TomTom client assist line on a weekday regarding 10AM, got a client aid representative in just minutes, and when I explained my issues to him, he was ready with a solution. It involved TomTom correcting a problem with my online account so my buy registered correctly, and manually deleting galore files from TomTom Home and the TomTom device, after which the update was successful. We in addition figured out that this same issue was preventing QuickGPS selective selective information from updating, and that was corrected as well. Over all I expended regarding 40 minutes on the phone. Excellent and polite service.

I also had ordered a Magellan 4700, and this device was equated to that. After 2 software updates, no map updates, and no map updates expected for 12-18 months (as per Magellan documentation), their map guarantee is worthless. Also, in the fewer than 30 days I had that unit, I applied 2 software updates to correct issues with crashing, performance, satellite acquisition, and position accuracy, it still did not work correctly and I returned it.

There are such a heap of things I wish they would bettered On this 5″ unit it becomes evident that their display is low resolution. I like the Magellan display much better. However, the Magellan is much slower to power up, and seems much less responsive. The TomTom turns on and off very quickly. And as long as QuickGPS information is current (a QuickGPS update is good for in regards to a week), it gets a repair in less than 15 seconds. In 3D view, which is normal for navigating, you can see such a good deal of color banding as the shading goes off into the distance. The TomTom is a little thicker than the Magellan, but such a heap of of that is due to the more prominent speaker the TomTom uses. I like the compact windshield mount, but it is a little tricky to snap on and off the appliances The windshield mount has a somewhat stiff swivel joint, so you need to change it with care using two hands or with the device detached. The joint being stiff is a good thing, as there is little flex, vibration or bounce for the duration of driving. But if you undertake to adjust it with your hand on the TomTom, you will just detach it from the mount. I believe this is intentional, so that the mount does not move when you attach or detach the device for theft or break in deterrent. The device reminds you to remove it on the shutdown screen for this reason, the reminder can be disabled. I wish they would make a more feature rich version of this widgets It is their greatest display, but only has the most basic features. This is equal to the ONE series. It does not have bluetooth, live services, or any extras except for an optional traffic receiver/power cord. I tried the traffic receiver, but coverage is spotty, and updates take too long to be actually usefull. A TomTom GO Live edition with an internet connection through a bluetooth connected phone is much better, but also pricier. I got this for it’s large display, as my folks are going to be using it, and they have upset seeing, and operating a small touch display. More room for fingers and bigger text. One last issue, this unit has 2GB of memory, and it is just enough. There is little room for extras. I have got rid of foreign language voices, peculiarly the text to speech, and all extras I did not need to maintain numerous free space, and allow the few customizations that I installed. I installed a vehicle cursor that matched my car, and custom shutdown and startup screens. This issue is limited on the TomTom XXL 540S World Traveler model, which has 4GB of memory, to load further and added maps for more countries. This model does not have a SD card expansion slot for additional storage. I wish I could get terrain/elevation mapping, and 3D landmarks. Watch the sky above the horizon in the display, it changes from day to night. There are clouds in the sky during the day, and twinkling stars at night.

Overall I am very pleased with my purchased The price at Amazon was good during Christmas, and free trial of Amazon Prime let me get free fast shipping on its It meet the needs of my folks, and is easy to use for them. I have pre-programmed their most ordinary destinations into it, and it performs well. With my familiarity of the TomTom interface and its easy operation, the largely don’t need my help, and if they do, I can ordinarily walk them through the menu.

Sorry that this was so long winded, but I hope this provides such a heap of utile information for your decision making. And please understand, that for the aim I purchased it for (my folks) it works genuinely well and I am very satisfied. The issues I fetch up are from my point of view, which would be a more advanced and demanding user. I have looked at a number of Personal Navigation widgets from various manufacturers, and I think the TomTom is the most easygoing to use, with good maps, usual map updates, and good client support.

I just bought it two days back. I was kind of skeptical with the map updates and activation code not working, after reading through so such a great deal of reviews affiliated with update failure etc.

So I started with a full explorer backup of the device at windows level. It took with regards to 45 minutes. Then I took another backup using Home software. That was another 45 minutes.

Then I deleted undesirable voices to free up some space. It in all probability got rid of some 30-40MB of space. There was close to 400MB free after this step.

Then I entered the activation code for lifespan free map updates using the Home software. It worked fine (at least it did not give me any errors).

Then it detected that there is new versions of map available for download. I downloaded the new maps, which took another 20 minutes or so, and took further 30 minutes to update the device.

The downloaded size of new maps was when it comes to 1.7GB, whereas the former versions of maps occupied 1.43GB. Now my device has close to 60MB free out of the 1.9GB memory it has. I think if I would not have deleted not wanted voices, I would have come close to filling up all the space.

I also downloaded the GPSquickfix.

For the safety camera, when I had entered Canada as the home country, it did not show any information available to download. But after I swopped it to US (from within HOME software), then it showed the data for US-Canada safety cameras, and I was able to download them.

So overall, I did not face any issues earlier reviewers of TomTom XL/XXL series had mentioned.

Regarding performance, I was pretty impressed with the speed it took to acquire satellite signal. I have a four year old HP-IPaq GPS (which runs TomTom software), and this new one is much more immediate than the HP one.

Now before I made this purchase, I had bought Garmin 755T last week. I did not like it for one main reason that it did not have up to date maps of my area (especially it didn’t show my home even after 7 years it is on TomTom maps). I updated the maps to latest, and still didn’t show my home street. Contacting the client help for Garmin was a pain, with 30-40 min. of wait each time I tried to call them. It was a breeze to contact TomTom support. First time I was connected instantly, and each time after that, it took only few minutes to get connected. Finally, I did not like the colour strategies and sounds which came with Garmin. May be that is my personal preferences But Garmin is not too much customizable, pretty basic stuff you can setup So it went back within few days.

Hope this review will be utile to you all.

I am a long time Garmin user. Being too cheap to recompense extra for map upgrades I decided to shop for a new GPS figuring to replace it each three years and live with the aging maps. I saw this GPS with FREE traffic and FREE map updates but hesitated because of the negative reviews about service, maps, etc.

SERVICE: Before I bought this unit I found and called the tech support number for TomTom (1-866-486-6866) to see if I would be on-hold for “6-hours”. It was more like 3-minutes. The tech support rep was very helpful, answered my questions about Garmin vs TomTom (she owned one of each), and talked honestly about the troubles they did have regarding the lifetime map updates.

After purchasing the unit I did have trouble with the lifetime map update codes and had to call tech support again. They picked up without delay this time. The trick is to upgrade the firmware and the one-time map update first- and then enter the code for the lifetime maps. Total time on the phone 10 minutes or less less then it is 6 hours for the download).

FEATURES: They are covered in the other reviews. I’ll just mention that my older eyes love the 5″ display & the brightness. Sound is nice and loud too.

PERFORMANCE: We took a camping trip to Hocking Hills Park in rural southeastern Ohio this weekend. The unit worked great even in the rural hills. The route put us at the campground 15 minutes in front of our friends who printed out a google map. When you are on a main road the unit displays the speed limit and your speed. When you get more than a few miles above the limit the display shows in red- usefull here in Ohio where they in truth like to write traffic tickets.

VALUE: I don’t talk on my cell phone while driving so I would have no use for bluetooth. Given the free map updates, free traffic, large display, etc. it’s hard to beat the bang-for-the-buck of this unit.

Brief update 7/10/2010:

Likes:

1.) The unit does a much better getting you back on track from a big parking lot than my Garmin did. When I get started out parked in the driveway it even tells me to turn around when possible to get started my trip.

2.) I really, really like the big 5″ screen

3.) Comes off the windshield posing no difficulty than the Garmin.

4.) The “Lane Assist” feature is great when driving in unfamiliar territory.

Dislikes:

1.) When looking for a store it would be helpful if the unit said the destination was on the right or left. In a mercantile area it can be hard to pick up the address.

2.) I have to turn the unit on each time I begin the car. The Garmin started up mechanically unless I turned it off.

3.) The Garmin is much better at picking up Points-of-Interest. The TomTom could not find my Gym (which is over two years old) or a nearby Mcdonalds (about a year old).

UPDATE 8/02- Unit passed from physical life after four weeks (just over the 30 day exchange-ugggh). Ok- that happens. But the Peoples Republic of Customer Service at TomTom are entirely awful to deal with. They are excellent at reading you all the footnotes & exclusions in their customer dis-service policy though. The best thing about my old Garmin unit was that in four years I never had to call customer service. If I could have a do-over I’d buy another Garmin (even without the traffic & maps) and I’d buy it from Costco so I could just interchange it rather of the ordeal of dealing with manufactures.

I really loved this GPS until it was time to update the maps. When I did, the GPS stated it was “unable to use” the new map and since I didn’t backup my maps, there was no way to go back to the old one. Looking through the GPS forums, I ran into this is a problem with Tom Tom GPS devices ranging over the last couple of years. If you decide to purchase the xxl 540, be certain to backup your maps right out of the box. There is a rather convoluted fix for this I found on the web that involves deleting the maps from both your GPS device and computer and then reinstalling from scratch.It did work for me, but before you try it, I would backup your maps to a second computer.

Although I just got this unit, I am very impressed! It’s very quick starting up, very quick in determining my emplacement and seems to be very precise in terms of exits, roads, etc. My only disappointment is that the “lifetime” map feature is based on the “useful lifetime” of the device and TomTom reserves the right to decide what the useful life is and can withdraw support for it whenever they choose toxi That importantly reduces the value of the “lifetime” map offer, but for an extra $30, it’s in all likelihood still worth it, assuming they don’t stop supporting it within a year!

I really like this GPS – I upgraded from another tomtom for the lifetime maps and lifetime traffic feature. Also tomtom has now integrated the traffic receiver into the lighter power plug (much sleeker then pictures I saw of older traffic receivers). The downside is that the lifetime map activation code that shipped with the product did not work. When I called tomtom they had me scan the activation code code and post it to them. After a week of not hearing from them and called again and the support rep told me they now need my receipt (nice of them to let me know). I posted that 5 days ago and I’m still waiting for them to notify me that they either the activation code that shipped with the box is now good or they assigned me a new working code. It appears that tomtom shipped these units BEFORE entering the activation codes in their database. This has cost me hours on the support line (two calls – so far and counting). Another negative was that the mount was defective. To tomtom’s credit they shipped me a new mount right away that works fine. Hopefully, I will have my lifetime activation code soon and all will be good. I just find it pretty lame for any company to advertise some key new feature (like LIFETIME MAPS) and then actually ship a product where the feature does not work out of the box. Come on tomtom you can do better then that. That’s enough to turn-off galore current and future buyers. The performance of the touch screen (both typing and map browsing is very slow and primitive when compared whith an Iphone/Ipad/Itouch). But I wanted a standalone GPS – without the mount and map activation problem this would likely get a 4-star.

Canon Powershot Wide Angle Stabilized 3 0 Inch

First, let me say that while I am not a professinal photographer, I do earn such a swell deal of money from photographing weddings and other events for friends and acquaintences, and consider myself to be an innovative user and photography fanciers I shoot principally with Canon DSLRs and was looking for a compact camera to supplement my current photography equipment. The Canon PowerShot XS150 IS is a very nice complement to my gear and overall, I am pleased with it.

Canon has developed a very good substitute for the compact camera market in it is PowerShot XS150 IS platform. The camera boasts a 14MP picture size with 12x optical zoom capability and the camera delivers. The XS150 IS is a small more spectacular and heavier than most compact cameras but is of quality construction and durable. The case is molded plastic and has a very ergonomic design with specific places to rest your fingers and thumb for one-hand operation. All the controls might be operated with the right hand while holding the camera.

The picture quality is very good. Canon’s processor provides vivid colors and impressive clarity for a compact design. The huge viewing screen is impressive and easy to see, even in vivid sunlight. The controls are easy to use and placed such that they won’t be in an unintentional manner changed. The controls in the on-screen menu are easy to use and, whether or not you’re intimate with Canon’s menu system, you’ll be capable to commence shooting right away. Those that aren’t familiar with Canon must read the manual, but even then, the menu selections and control layout are very intuitive and easy to use.

The camera provides a lot of particular shooting features that may be applied not only for still photography, but as well for the video recording. There’s an “easy shooting” mode for those that want to pick up the camera and begin shooting right away, permitting the camera to make all the decisions with regards to ISO, white balance, focus, etc. There are scene and filter shooting modes that concede the photographer to select a style for their photos (monochrome, color accent, color replacement, miniature mode, macro, smile and face detection, beach and snow scenes, fireworks, etc.). The stereo sound for the movie function is rather good as well, but the microphones will pick up the sound of the zoom lens motor whirring whether or not you use the zoom feature while shooting video. The lens motor sound may most likely be minimized or eliminated in galore video or sound editing programs such as Adobe Premier, DVD Studio Pro, or Soundbooth, etc.

The flash is a small dissimilar for this camera. It’s centered over the telescoping lens but is manually activated (you have to lift the flash open with your finger) to turn on the auto-flash feature. While this may seem like an botheration at first, it’s genuinely not a bad feature, just different; and it prevents that annoying “pop-up” of the flash when you in truth don’t want flash but the camera’s sensors require it.

The XS150 IS is a small larger and heavier than most other compact cameras but is still very portable. The weight and size are detemined mostly by the fact that the camera uses two AA batteries, and the size of the lens for this camera. Still it’s a small camera for what it may do and will easily fit into a cargo pocket or purse, or in a case that may be worn on a belt or attached to a backpack.

The only real complaint I have with regards to the camera is the battery life with alkaline AA batteries (this is why I ranked it 4 stars instead of 5). While it’s nice to have a camera that accepts a ordinary battery type (AA) that may be purchased nearly anywhere in the world, I would commend becoming the rechargeable NiMH AA batteries because the battery life for alkiline AA batteries seems to be a small short, specially if you’re going to shoot video.

Overall, this is a outstanding compact camera and it will meet most user’s needs peculiarly if they are looking for a camera that provides a lot of shooting features in a small package with HD video and is easy to learn to employed I highly recommend it is

I purchased this camera to replace the Canon Powershot SX130 that my daughter took to school with her. The only thing I was initially disappointed in with the purchase was that a memory card did not come with it (note to self; read the fine print! Other than that, I like that this camera gives you options/settings to use for dissimilar types of photo opportunities. I have taken galore very nice quality photos of pets (horses, dogs, cats) as well as trip photos and am pleased with the clarity of the photos and the fact that, if the settings are right, the photos may be printed in large sizes. I took a photo up close of a feathered tulip; the photo was even more striking when I had it printed in an 11 x 14 size – it won primary place in it is department at state fair).

I’m not as pleased with the video quality on this camera as I was on a previous Sony point and shoot camera I had. The pro is that you may zoom in and out while videotaping (I couldn’t do that on other camera). The con is that the effigy is not as clear as I would like.

It takes a while to learn all the settings on the camera, specially for a amateur like myself; but I like the choices and the fact that it is small enough to take anywhere.

I purchased this camera to replace my Canon powershot A710IS. The SX150IS is a nice step up. It does a wonderful job in low light situations. The HD video is superb in low light situations as well. I’m specially happy with the recording mics on this camera. I use the video record option while at very loud karaoke bars. The sound is great, never over modulated.

There are too a good deal of features to list here regarding this camera. Included is the owner’s manual on cd. I wish there was a printed copy so that I may read it in a more comfortable position. Don’t care to sit at the computer or waste ink printing out the whole thing. For those of you who already own it, I found a neat small extra. while the camera is in picture taking mode, hold the function button in for with regards to a minute. The whole display becomes a digital clock. By rotating the wheel around the func button you may modify the colors of the clock. Found that to be gorgeous neat. Not sure if it’s in the owner’s manual or not, but thought it was finelooking neat to come across.

The battery life is great. Be sure to use high MAH shortlisted batteries. At least 2000 or more. If you want such a lot of long durable superb battery performance, look into becoming some eneloop rechargeables. They’re put out by Sanyo and they’re a very, very good battery. Check the reviews on them.

If I had to choose anything negative regarding this camera it would in all likelihood be the flash operation. Most cameras in this class have a flash that will pop up mechanically in the automati mode when required. This one does not do it automatically. It will let you acknowledge to pop the flash up manually yourself if necessitated but it doesn’t do it automatically. That may be a good thing though too. This way you can override the flash choices It will still take the picture but just without the flash.

This is a perfective camera for an alternative to lugging around a bulky DSLR. It has some options that a DSRL has and still has easy mode and auto mode. I think this camera is perfect for anyone. The only reason it didn’t get all 5 stars because like others have said the battery life is beautiful bad with regular batteries and you in truth do need lithium or a good rechargeable set, But i love that it takes AA batteries because your battery can die and AAs are available everywhere. also the flash on occasion does take what feels like everlastingly from time to time to charge (its a few seconds). other than that, it is a swell buy.

I’ve been a Canon user for 5 years now. My first digital camera was a Canon A430, then a couple of years later I upgraded to a Canon A480. Now I moved away from the A series to this SX because I was looking for a camera that featured a great zoom.

I did look elsewhere, but ended up with Canon again. The features on this camera are incredible giving careful consideration to its price tag. And the zoom itself is awesome! The optical zoom is flawless and the digital zoom (48X) is gorgeous good as well. There’s nothing quite like it on the market with this expensive Price’s bound to climb up soon!

The only thing individuals seem to complain when it comes to on this camera is battery life. Well, I was aware of that when I purchased it so I invested $20 more dollars on the Eneloop rechargeable batteries (with sanyo charger included) and I’ve had no difficultnesses at all. Batteries last just as much as they had lasted with my old Canon cameras.

This camera was incisively as advertised and the vender shipped it rapidly in a safe and secure manner. Use Strong (German) AA batteries to get longer life while in Video Mode and you will think you are Steven Spielberg! (Note: Duracell’s and other American Batteries simply dont pack the gear. Use Strong Long Lasting German Batteries like VARTA and this Camera will rock! Dont listen to that phony promotion by Duracell and energizer and the rest, they have good advertising but lousy batteries.) HD video and effigy stabilization perfect! Stereo Sound Awesome! Takes Great Pictures as well but I mostly use it for the Video. Can be set a heap of ways and go full Auto or Full MAnual and many settings in between! purchase from this seller!

I got this camera at an awesome price on Black Friday and I couldn’t be happier. Before this camera I had another canon camera, the Powershot A610, which was a great camera but after so many years with it, I wanted a little more without having to spend more than 200 dollars.

The tryout: I have been attempting the SX150is underneath different conditions: underneath a good amount of sunlight, at night, taking pictures from my car, with my dogs, cloudy days and so far the pictures have been amazing. I haven’t had any troubles using the 3 inch screen under very sunny days. The zoom of this camera is lots of fun, especially on video mode, I was in a race track the other day and it was cool to use it to not miss any portion of the action, even when the cars were far away on the other side of the track. Yes, it’s true that it is a little bulky, you might not be competent to slide it inside your jeans pockets but, just like somebody wrote, that’s where your cellphone should go, not your camera. It’s easy to use with just one hand while your other hand has a soda or a beer, so no need to worry that you will miss enjoying the food and drinks at the BBQ because you decisive to take pictures.

I have read some complaints with regards to battery issues but, that shouldn’t be a problem if you buy good rechargeable batteries. I got for this camera four (4) 3100 mAh rechargeable batteries and it’s a whole large divergence when you compare them with what alkaline batteries or lithium batteries can give you. The fun part is that, in case your rechargeable batteries run dry, you can constantly get some AA anywhere you are and keep having fun with your camera until you can recharge them again, so my advice is that if you have this camera and you don’t want to be one of those humans giving crappy scores to this camera just because they are too hard headed to keep feeding this camera with normal batteries, spend a little over 10 dollars in batteries as the ones I got, I spent a whole afternoon taking pictures and videos with these batteries without having to recharge them.

To make this short, if you want the best camera that money can buy for fewer than 200 dollars, this is its No other camera will give you the quality or the features that this one has. I’m very happy with what this camera offers, it has been way more than what I expected. You won’t regret it and remember: BUY GOOD RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES!! It’s just ridiculous to keep seeing people writing complaints about using this camera with normal batteries of little capacity.

I’m just an intermediate guy who wanted a tv for the bedroom. I had a 19″ but it was way to small. I’m NOT going to go into all the mumbo-jumbo with what it has and what it should have. I genuinely don’t care. I read all the specs and did my homework and based my decision on that. I went to assorted stores and looked at all the 32″ tvs they had out and this one had the best picture. It seem that it was more brilliant and softer than the other brands. I have a bigger Samsung in the living room and it’s great! I feel like Samsung is where Sony use to be. I also have some other Samsung products. The only knock I can give this tv is that Samsung’s manual is genuinely BAD. It is on one huge piece of paper folded into sections. I went to the website and downloaded the manual. Much having small impact to read. One knock was when it comes to the stand. Yes, it’s plastic. You MUST install six (6) screws in order for it to be secure. The assembly instructions are a bit weak. Make sure you put the two screws on the bottom of the base. This tv is swell when the boss wants to watch Lifetime and you want to watch ESPN!!! Happy viewing!

Was bought for a bedroom. I was able to set up using the HDMI cable to a AT&T Uverse home network with little difficulty and added a DVD and VCR participants I did have a problem with the remote for it wasn’t working with the channel selection button. I contacted the Samsung aid and after going through the recommended tests, it was decided there was a glitch in the remote and new one is being sent. magnificent support service. Very satisfied with the product and deliverance through Amazon.

My Uverse remote worked with a simple configured precedure.

This tv was purchased for my daughter for her bedroom. Picture quality is the best, easy to hook up and hand unit is user friendly.

I obtained the Samsung UN32EH4000 on time and in good working condition, meaning it fired right up and was ready for programming after connections were made. The channel search is a little slow but I expected that given I had another Samsung TV and a Samsung HDTV tuner. I tweaked the picture a little and it looks great. I was a little disappointed that the TV is a little thicker (about 3.5″) than I would have liked but I realize the advantages in this model when compared to the “thin” LCD sets. It is back lit rather than edge lit so no light splotches around the edges on dark scenes and the deeper packaging allows for physical space to have decent speakers and good sound. No need for a sound bar like numerous of the thin models I examined prior to my decision to get this one. All in all, this is just what I necessitated to fit my 30″ broad cabinet in the motor home. I have no width latitude and this fits perfectly. I just wish they made a 30″ for the TV in the bedroom and I would be set to go.

I believe that in this price range the Denon AVR-1312 is the best bang for your buck. Although there are a few missing features it has all the ones most users will ever need. This is my basi experience with a Denon product, and I need to say that I am overall very happy with this purchases. The AVR-1312 is Denon’s original entry level offering, featuring their great quality design with lowpriced pricing.

While this is very basic 5.1 surround receiver, it has quite a lot to offer the budget audio enthusiast; namely, clean consistent sound all over the spectrum. There are no holes in the listening experience but very clean highs, perfect mid range and tight, solid bass.

While I was reviewing other units, I kept on noticing troubles with dissimilar aspects concerning the HMDI hook ups and other anomalous things. My final two choices I had narrowed down in my price range were the Denon and the Sony STRDH520 7.1 Channel 3D AV Receiver (Black). While the Sony was by far more feature rich, there were enough complaints that kept me leaning towards the Denon, which boasted 91/2 stars and a long history of excellence. Sony seems to have quality issues in their manufacturing, because a good deal of different products from them many times have a reasonable amount of problem-ed units.

The only drawback for me is that I am pushing 8ohm speakers and the amp is designed for driving 6ohm speakers more efficiently. I really have to crank it to get any level of sound out of it passed a whisper, but in the end this isn’t much of a troubles The discrete separate amplification circuits shortlisted at .08% THD, you may crank this guy up with minimal distortion until the very end of the dial. I can get an adequate for the purpose volume without any discernible distortion for music and movie viewing. Getting to the higher volumes that I like at times, it still out performs other audio systems I have owned before. But, would still like a little more crank for those, “I really want to feel this” times.

At the end of the day, this is a little thing compared to the build and quality that comes from owning Denon equipment. Need a basic 5.1 receiver that won’t brake the bank but deliver great sound and be authenti years down the road; purchase the Denon.

This receiver rocks. It is in all probability entry level and basic but it allowed me to hookup my AT&T UVerse, Apple TV, and Blu-Ray Player to hit through HDMI with great results. The monitor out is nice since it gives you an on screen menu to tweak the receiver. Great purchased

You won’t find a cheaper 5.1 550W receiver that has 4 HDMI inputs, is 3D ready, and is iPod ready. Very pleased with my purchase! Was looking for a cheap resolution to hook up my 2 floor-standing JBL speakers, my 42in. Panasonic Plasma, PS3, and AT&T Uverse cable.

HDMI is the only way to go!

I connected this Denon AV receiver to five speakers and a subwoofer. There was no sound coming from the subwoofer until I made an adjustment to the speaker configuration. The default settings didn’t do the job. The clearly-written manual got me through all problems of the set up though.

The sound from my TV, DVD, and FM is now fantastic. I’m happy with this “entry level” receiver that I bought myself for Christmas. Everything works absolutely and the set looks great.

This is a terrific receiver for an entry-level home theater setup. The sound quality is excellent, they set up is easy and the interface is fairly intuitive. For around $250, it’s hard to beat.

One thing to note, though, is that this model doesn’t have a USB port for your iPad. I think that only comes on the higher end models.

Updated: Had it a little over a month and was basically underwhelmed. Started to get blackouts for the duration of dvd or blu-ray playback. occasionally audio and video, sometimes just video would black out during playback. The blackouts were brief, a few seconds, but annoying. I originally thought they were due to damaged or dirty disks, but it also happened on a brand new blu-ray. It’s such a lot of sort of signal issue. When I connected the BR player directly to the HDTV the blackouts stopped.

I returned it, and substituted it with a Sony strdh520.

I scaled down the ranking from 4 stars to 3.

I’m not qualified to review the sound quality of this receiver. It sounds fine to me, but I haven’t compared it to any others in an A/B test. My home set up is just a 2.1.

From a usability and flexibleness standpoint:

1. It’s easy to hook up speakers using banana plugs or just bare wires.

2. The back panel is beautiful well laid out, but the labeling uses small lettering and is not that easy to read.

3. There are 4 hdmi inputs. There is a button on the remote for “TV” but there is no hdmi input for a TV. I assume this button works whether or not you have a coax plug hooked up to the monitor jack.

4. There are analog inputs for audio, but none for video, at least not on the back panel. There is a video input on the front for occasional hookup to appliances like a camcorder. I am not sure if it can handle analog input.

If not, you can’t hook up game consoles, like the Wii, using an rca cable for video.

5. There is a set of factor audio/video jacks. You can connect the Wii to the receiver using factor cables. Or, you can connect the audio cables from the game to the receiver and connect the video cable directly to your tv, if it supports analog video input.

6. There is an optical audio input port. I use the port to direct audio invented by the tv through the receiver. My tv has an internet connection and there is no other way to get tv audio to the speakers since the Denon doesn’t aid ARC (which permits audio to be transmitted back to the receiver from the tv over the hdmi cable).

The settings are comparatively bare-bones. The ad copy says it has a “graphical interface”, which is a stretch. It’s just text on your screen, which changes color from white to yellow when the text selection is active.

The receiver is “ipod ready”, but you need to buy a Denon dock to take vantage of its There are ipod controls on the remote, which only work if the ipod is connected to their dock. An appletv is probably a better investment.

The volume control is strange. There are two buttons that control volume up or down, instead than a single rocker button. A single button press causes a nearly imperceptible modify in volume. But keeping down the button for a second causes volume to adjust rapidly, often times overshooting the desired volume level. Not a large deal, but I would have thought that volume control design was finelooking well locked down by now.

There is an led screen on the front of the receiver. Nearly all text appears on a single line in very small lettering. The display screen itself seems generous in size but Denon uses very little of it to carry over information. I guess they expect people to use the on screen overlay, which is plain text and easy to read.

Overall the receiver meets my needs and I could not find a better one for this expensive About the only thing I wished it would do is permit me to mix audio an video hdmi sources. I’d love to be able to watch a football game while listening to music instead than the announcers.

Bought a two-year extended warranty for a Garmin FR305 GPS unit. Near the end of their warranty amount of time period years after purchase), the GPS broke down. Contacted Garmin for troubleshooting advice, and their remedy did not work. Contacted Squaretrade shortly after that.

Squaretrade sent me a UPS stamp to ship them back the unit. I grasp that their frequent procedure is for them to mend the unit and ship it back but in my case they called me up to notify me they did not have the resources to fix my specific GPS unit, ant that they would instead sent me a refund for the full buy costly Not the actual used value, not even the actual new alternate value (the unit can now be bought for $100 fewer than when I bought purchased They did just that and it all took with regards to a week.

Really couldn’t recommend them more.

Amazon suggested bundling this “3-year from day of buy warranty” with a high end Sony merchandise Sony warrants that product for 5-years from day of bought Since both warrants are from day of purchase, it’s like sending a stranger $50.00 for NOTHING in return. Since most decent electronics have at least a 1-year warranty, calling this a 3-year warranty is deceptive; it’s really a 2-year extended warranty. Wake up people!

I nearly purchased the SquareTrade Warranty thru Amazon, but I decisive to check at the actual web site to see if it was cheaper. Indeed, it was! with regards to 30% cheaper! I’ve been getting SquareTrade warranties for such a heap of time now, since they are much less pricey than the store ones (the store ones don’t hit my price ‘sweet spot’ and are more than I want to spend).

I recently got a solid black line down a 2-year old plasma TV. I called ST and the next business day a technician showed up, examined it, and said the plasma was shot. Two days later, I got an email saying that the first $1200 had been deposited in my PayPal account. I went out and bought a new one (much better than the first because TVs bettered in the last 2 years). I like the $1200, but I like better that it was so painless.

P.S. I talked my daughter into a iPhone warranty included whether or not you destroy it yourself. certain enough, her daughter stepped on it and she also wound up with a new one.

BIG TIP!!: Before using it for a big item, get a warranty for something very little small a $10 item). This puts you on their list and you get 20% discount on the next bought

I had to file 2 claims with Squaretrade over the past few years & they tried every imaginable way to argue out of paying – even wanted to send out elements for ME to mend my computer and, on another claim, TWICE refused receiving my emailed receipt. They in the long run paid, but it was NOT an easy or pleasant process, and they did not live up to their 5-day service lay lay arrogate arrogate claimed it was my fault). BE SURE to read the details of the contract, including exclusions, before you buy. There have been changes in recent years that are NOT the consumer’s favor.

Squaretrade is NOT required to compensate you the “original” buy highpriced Their contract has a lot of qualifiers such as “in most cases” and “up to the buy price.” whether or not they don’t mend it or replace with a refurbished unit (that’s right, and not necessarily manufacturer refurbished), they are only required to pays you the alternate value AT THE TIME OF THE CLAIM. Four years down the road the “replacement” value of your now nearly obsolete TV will be a LOT less. They might also “replace the Product with a new, rebuilt or refurbished product of equal or alike features and functionality.” That’s a direct cite from one of my Squaretrade contracts.

If it fails 3-4 years from now, it is doubtful you will get your initial buy price to buy a new one with all the latest features. Squaretrade may replace it with the then-current LOW-END product, even a refurbished one, or just recompense you to buy such a products Of course it would have features equivalent to or better than your 3-4 year old TV, but certainly not what you could have gotten whether or not they had refunded the initial buy pricey Squaretrade benefits from technical advances and you lose.

So beware. Read the contract and know what you’re getting for the cash cash worth it for you, maybe maybe It’s NOT your standard extended warranty contract, and in my experience Squaretrade has been very deceptive when it comes to that fact.

I bought a square trade warranty for a ltc tv/hd dvd combo 2 years ago and it was good for 5 years. When the hd dvd player went out, the square sell warranty folks responded to my query in less than 2 hours. When I explained that I did not want to ship the tv/dvd player combo in for a refund of buy price because I was disabled and employed the tv for a computer monitor as well as to play dvds, the square trade folks were fantastically compassionate and with plainly turing in a statement that the hd dvd player did not work, they refunded a allocation of the money within hours so I could buy a distinguished player to go with the tv. These folks are fantastically kind, very helpful and make using the warranty very easy and convenient, which is much appreciated as my disability would make it very unmanageable whether or not I had bought an in-store warranty. I strongly encourage everyone to buy a square trade warranty. If you need to make good on the warranty, you will find these folks very easy to deal with. I had bought a warranty on a computer from another company and they were condesending, took over a year to fix the computer and when it still didn’t work right, they basically told me to get lost. Square trade was a pleasure after that negative experience and I will be sure to get Square Trade on any electronics I buy in the future. Peace and Goodwill.

I was given the choice of purchasing a warranty on the auction website where I got the TV. The link sent me to Squaretrade’s internet site where they offered a very nice price for their one year service. In one of my smarter moments, I decisive to get it ‘just in case’. During the purchase, a pop-up asked if I would like a second years coverage for a principally scaled down amount. It was such a good deal that I opted for that too. Thankfully! 1 year and 1 month later, the 42″ DLP HDTV (big name) craps out. It won’t do anything but buzz and reset itself over and over. I filed a claim with ST and in underneath a week had my FULL buy price back in my Paypal account. I have dealt with Best Buy and Circuit City on claims before and let me tell you, this was by far MUCH easier. I was contacted by a claims specialist and given very basic instructions on what to do for the claim. I filled the claim out, emailed it back, sent a fax (only because my email wouldn’t attach the PDF file properly), and got a refund 2 days later. I was told to expect it in 3-5 business days! Not only will my next TV be covered by Squaretrade, but also my wife’s Ipod we just bought and my next computer strategy as well as anything else I buy electronic. No more store warranties for me. Ever. Do yourself the favor AND save such a lot of money.

THE PURCHASE EXPERIENCE

Getting the warranty was relatively easy. I had a few questions because our TV is a DLP, not an LCD, Plasma or LED but, to my surprise the off-shore humans answering the phone – and it was easy to get to talk to a humane – were competent to intelligently search their noesis base, find the definition of DLP, decide that my TV could be covered, in the right way answer my question regarding the DLP’s alternate lamp (no, it’s not covered) and made a note in their strategy that my TV was a DLP.

Shortly after I genuinely finished the purchase at Amazon, I obtained an email from SquareTrade that had a printable copy of the service agreement/contract.

I was told over the phone that I had to get a userID/password at their site in order to be competent to manage my coverage information. Once that completed, I was able to log in and retrieve my contract number and instructions on how to send SquareTrade my evidence of purchase – simply paste Amazon’s invoice into an email that has the contract number in the subject line.

SquareTrade then sent me an email that acknowledged me sending them my evidence of purchase and advising me to keep the initial because they were not going to actually verify my purchase until I made my first claim.

COVERAGE

If your manufacturer has a one-year warranty on your TV, SquareTrade will cover it for years 2, 3 and 4.

- The value of coverage is fixed to whatsoever you paid for your TV. This is principal so, let me provide the full cite from the agreement:

[The total amount that We will pays for repairs or replacement made in connection with all claims that You make pursuant to this Service Agreement shall not exceed the purchase price of the Product, less taxes. In the event that We make payments for repairs, which in the aggregate, are equal to the purchase price or replace the Product with a new, rebuilt or refurbished product of equal or similar features and functionality, We will have no further obligations underneath this Service Agreement.]

- There is a ‘no lemon’ provision in the agreement which states that if the same item is repaired 3 times for the same defect within a year they will replace your TV with an equivalent product, at which time the warranty coverage ends – will not cover the replacement.

- If your TV is damaged by a power surge and you had a power surge protector they may ask you to send it over to them for examination (probably to see if they may get such a good deal of money from the power surge protector manufacturer).

- Any time we are talking about replacements, they reserve the right to ask for the defective item to be sent to them and they will provide the box and the shipping label.

- They will assist arrange for in-house repairs and compensate the repair company directly.

- They do not cover scratches or cracks.

- They do not cover any damage cause by you doing terrible things to your TV – like leaving it out in the rain.

- There is no deductible.

- They will concede for the agreement to be transferred if you sell your TV – can do it at their Web site.

I haven’t made any claim yet but, since Amazon stands behind this company and based on the service agreement and on my experience in dealing with the humans at the call center, I am confident that this is a company worth doing business with so they get a 5-star.

Being a person that is skeptical about warranties I took a chance and purchsed a warranty with squaretrade on my LCD TV, after it produced blue lines in it I contacted Squaretrade and was refunded in full immediately, I since purchased assorted of thier warranties including one on my bigger replacement LCD TV, with a string of bad luck that TV went black on me, I again contacted squaretrade and was so impressed with their service and speed. They reviewed my claim, asked me some basic questions and determined that a full refund was the most easygoing solution, I had this TV for over two years at the time of the claim. I’m not a big warranty person, as most experts will say aftermarket warranties are not worth it, but this company has changed my outlook, the cost of the warranties I purchased for all my items were so minimal and the service was incredible and hassle free, you would have more of a problem if you tried to return something to a store than with squaretrade. I highly recommend you pick up one of squaretrades warranties for any device, large or small. I can say it is WELL worth the small amount they charge.

I bought a Square Trade warranty on my 42″ Envision LCD TV, bought at Staples, a couple of years ago. The warranty was valid until 2010.

While Square Trade could have had me ship this TV to them for repair, when it developed an LCD fault, they decided the TV was too large and bulky to ship, with a big chance that it may very well be destroyed totally in transit.

Also at it is age, repair would likely be more expensive than replacement.

On their request, I faxed them a copy of my Staples receipt. They immediately issued a refund for the price of the TV.

One phone call and one fax. That was it.

I could ask for NO better service of a warranty than that.

NOTE: Keep your receipts and copies of your warranty at least as long as the warranty is in effect!

I have purchased a few Square Trade warranties and have been totally satisfied. Their prices are a lot less than most I have seen. You can transfer warranties from one product to another, which is swell if you upgrade something. Staff is very friendly and competent. My claims have been completed within 2 weeks after filing, full reimbursement, no questions asked. I would recommend them to anybody looking to purchase an extended warranty.
